Scobie & Junor Northern Ireland Sausage Competition 2026On Thursday 16th April 2026, Scobie & Junor Northern Ireland proudly hosted its annual Sausage Competition, celebrating the very best of the local butchery trade and determining which butcher produces Northern Ireland’s finest sausages.This year, we received an impressive 127 entries from butchers across Northern Ireland and Donegal. Each entry was assessed through a rigorous blind tasting process by four independent judges, ensuring fairness and consistency throughout. Competitors battled it out across three key categories: Best Pork Sausage Best Beef Sausage Best Speciality Sausage Regional winners were crowned in each category, alongside County Champions, a Best Butcher’s Apprentice, and the prestigious Supreme Champion title. The standard of entries was exceptionally high, with very close scores across the board. Our judges were particularly impressed by the outstanding quality and craftsmanship on display — especially from the apprentices, whose work continues to set a strong benchmark for the future of the trade. From inspection and weighing through to cooking, tasting, and scoring, the judging process was thorough and demanding.
